SAARC workshop on landslide risk management in South Asia
This publications gathers multitude of inputs and studies from SAARC countries, it provides a snapshot of landslides in the SAARC region and considers also the mounting new threats posed by climate change, glacial lake outburst floods and earthquake induced landslides. The papers it contains highlight core issues connected with the multifaceted aspects of landslide risk management, including landslide hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment, approach to landslide risk management and the related framework, as well as the safety of housing and human settlements and the safety of strategic installations, cultural heritage and lifeline structures.

This publication's initial aim was to gather thoughts, ideas and proposals to serve as a framework for discussion at the SAARC workshop on landslides prevention on mitigation, held in Thimpu, Bhutan on 11-12 May 2010. It was intended to facilitate serious discussion between senior policy makers and experts from the SAARC countries.
