India: Assam floods worsen – 700 villages affected as Brahmaputra levels rise

The flood situation in Assam, India, has now affected over 300,000 people across 15 districts. Levels of the Brahmaputra and tributaries continue to rise. With heavy rains continuing in Arunachal Pradesh and upper Assam, the river levels are expected to rise further in the next few days.

India's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have issued weather warnings for the next few days, with the possibility of "extremely heavy rainfall" in isolated areas of Assam.
