Indonesia: Social preparedness is crucial in times of disaster - Japan’s Ambassador
In an interview with The Jakarta Post, Yoshinori Katori, Japan’s Ambassador to Indonesia, talked about the mutual cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in disaster preparedness and mitigation, such as the construction of early warning systems, strong housing or the rescue of landslide victims.
The diplomat emphasized the importance of building earthquake-proof houses, creating tsunami early warning systems and disseminating information. Other crucial factors to preparedness are protection from landslides, quake-proof transportation systems in urban areas as well as education.
