Two Chinese cities, Chengdu in Sichuan Province and Baofeng in Henan Province signed the world disaster reduction campaign, Making Cities Resilient: "my city is getting ready!" at a forum at the Shanghai Expo this week.
"We will do more to build the city's capacities against disasters," said Mao Zhixiong, Assistant Mayor of Chengdu.
"We have taken measures to ensure the information about risks and response of the government to be delivered to the public as quickly as possible," he said.
