International Day for Disaster Reduction 2017 - Lisbon: RESCCUE Meeting
Climate change will cause stresses and uncertainties that will pose challenges to urban living, affecting the society and basic urban services. Managing urban areas has become one of the most important development challenges of this century. What can be done to protect people from disasters and to make Lisbon more resilient to disasters? To remind this International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) 2017, October 13, the municipality of Lisbon promote different types of events, involving specific targets of the city, to inform, share and learn about how to increase the resilience of Lisbon to disasters.
With the project, RESilience to cope with Climate Change in Urban arEas - a multisectorial approach focusing on water (RESCCUE), Lisbon intend to help other cities around the world to become more resilient.
A private meeting will be held with Portuguese stakeholders to discuss and present resilient measures.
