6th International Conference on Integrated Natural Disaster Management
Shortly after the extreme earthquake in Bam, first International Conference on Integrated Natural Disaster Management (INDM) was held in Tehran on Feb 2005 in close cooperation between Private sector and Governmental, non-governmental and NGOs. The main purposes of the first conference were lessen learned from Bam Earthquake,creating a comprehensive view of disaster management,exchange of ideas,transferring of technologies and Disaster Risk Reduction strategies. These aims were followed until the 4th INDM Conference in 2009.
Over these years, many international and national speakers presented latest findings,foundations and future strategies in the field of disaster management at these conferences. Also many researchers,managers and specialists have developed and shared their scientific communication in the field of disaster risk reduction at these conferences.
6th INDM Conference: from Thought to Action
The 6th INDM will bring Iranian and international experts in risk and disaster management together in Mashhad, Iran. The conference will cover a broad range of topics from risk and disaster management, climate change adaptation, GEO-information, disaster medicine, and socio-economic vulnerability.
Approximately one month after 6th INDM,the 3rd UN World Conference on DRR will be held in Sendai / Japan in order to facilitate the development and to adopt a post-2015 framework on disaster risk reduction.
Sendai World Conference in March 2015,is a key gathering of politicians and experts to review the activities in the contribution towards the development of policy indicators for the Post-2015 Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction. (HFA1) and is a fundamental step towards the formulation and implementation of the post-2015 Hyogo Framework for Action for the next decade (2015-2025 AD).
In this regard,the 6th International Conference on Integrated Natural Disaster Management brings the Iranian and international experts in Mashhad together,aims to sum up,transferring their ideas to the Sendai World Conference,taking into consideration the national interest, the 6th INDM seized the opportunity to play an effective role in influencing the contribution towards the development of policy indicators for the post-2015 Hyogo Framework for Action on Disaster Risk Reduction.
Researchers, practitioners, civil society and governmental representatives are invited to submit abstracts on their work until 22 January 2015.
