Flood disaster risk management: Gorakhpur case study - training module
This module provides an overview of flood risk management in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi where annual floods cause havoc. The module is designed and developed in the form of a case study to help users to understand the problem of flood, its different perspectives, impact on livelihood, risk adaptation methods, community based and community led measures. The case study provides some examples from the work done by the Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG) in the field of flood management in the district.
This module is divided into five learning units: (i) understanding floods and its impact; (ii) towards disaster risk reduction planning; (iii) adaptive agricultural practices; (iv) community level disaster risk reduction interventions; (v) cost benefit analysis for disaster risk reduction measures.
