Source(s):  Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED)
REACH Initiative

This document presents results of the flood vulnerability mapping exercise conducted Warrap State, South Sudan. The research aims to strengthen the coordination between aid actors during flood emergency responses; to provide information to the South Sudanese government and aid actors and to inform the development of a disaster risk reduction strategy for Warrap State.

The methodology used for this study employed three interrelated steps: (1) identification of inundation areas using remote sensing technology; (2) sampling of flood-prone villages; and (3) primary data collection on the living conditions, flood mitigation and preparedness methods and perceptions of communities in flood prone areas in Warrap State.
