Central Europe flooding leaves dozen dead or missing

Following a heavy rainfall Central and Eastern Europe has been struggling with flooding. Particularly Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic were severely hit, while Hungary is preparing for more inundiations to come, reports Vatican Radio. The Czech government had invested in an anti-flooding system following the 2002 floods.

"Climate change and variations could lead to more frequent and severe disasters related to weather, water and climate in the region," suggested United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).
