USA: Federal Alliance for Safe Homes unveils new $22,500 scholarship program in disaster mitigation
The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), USA’s leading consumer advocate for strengthening homes and safeguarding families from natural and manmade disasters, announced five new $1,500 scholarships aimed at students seeking academic degrees in various areas of study related to disaster mitigation. The scholarships will be available over the next three years.
All for five scholarships are available to master and doctorate-degree students performing research on the identification, assessment or prioritization of risk as it relates to natural disaster liabilities; on resilient construction materials or techniques; on financial analysis, investment management or corporate finance as they relate mitigating the effects of, responding to or recovery from natural disasters; on meteorology or meteorological risk modelling as it relates to natural disasters; and on behaviour change, societal effects or other social aspects as they relate to natural disaster mitigation or preparation.
