US: White House budget - Agriculture funding targets climate change impact

The US government has proposed $61 billion for crop insurance towards what it is terming 'climate-driven increases' in extreme weather events such as drought and excessive moisture, reports the Washington Post.

According to the article, the budget is also geared towards providing additional funding for programs to mitigate the effects of climate change, including money for watershed planning, helping farmers with water conservation initiatives and land treatment efforts for adaptation projects to address extreme weather events such coastal flooding.
