United Nations (UN) experts evaluated Chile's need to take steps to implement the Hyogo Framework for Action and suggested that Chilean government update its national and regional emergency plan by taking actions aimed at reducing risk and enforcing preparation to disaster response.

As reported by People's Daily Online, UN experts made 75 suggestions to the Interior Ministry and the National Office of Emergency of the Interior Ministry (ONEMI), including strengthening the country's early warning system by raising public awareness through training, communication networks, and installation of loud speakers, sirens and signs, which indicate evacuation routes for people in danger.
