President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has issued a directive intended to institute a proactive policy in managing disasters. Executive Order (EO) 888 has ordered the adoption of the Strategic National Action Plan (SNAP) for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) 2009-2019 and is composed of 18 programmes.
The Executive Order states that the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) has been designated as the National Platform for DRR providing mechanisms for consultation and coordination for the continuous development and implementation of policies, plans and programmes.
