India: Radar system to forecast natural calamities soon

Speaking on the theme 'Engineering Preparedness for Disaster Mitigation', Rajya Sabha member from Goa Shantaram Naik said that a system to forecast natural calamities was the first step to disaster management, reports the Times of India. He also said that flood-prone areas in the state of Goa have been identified, but that proper planning in risk-prone areas is still awaited, and stressed on the need to include disaster management in school curriculums.
