While the quake was yet another reminder of the dangers of living in an unstable region, the Mountain Institute is winding up an expedition which scientists and engineers are hoping will help develop new methods of dealing with climate hazards such as avalanches, mudslides or catastrophic floods from glacier lakes, reports the Guardian.
