CITYNET in cooperation with Dhaka City Corporation (the lead city of Climate Change Cluster of CITYNET), UNESCAP, UNISDR, the CITYNET Bangladesh Chapter and others is organising the International Seminar on Climate Change and the Role of Local Governments in Dhaka on 27 and 28 November 2011.

The Seminar aims to address the following questions:

• How cities and local governments can prepare for planning their future – where economic growth is spurred with low GHGs emissions and at the same time building resilient cities. What cities need to road map their targets;
• How to assess a city’s vulnerability to climate change and disasters taking into account populations and resources at risk; what are the available tools to evaluate the city’s effort;
• How cities and local governments should engage other actors to meet their targets that goes beyond the temporal scale of a mayor’s term.
