Responsibilities
- Based on the experience in Japan’s local disaster management practices, conduct the analysis of local disaster preparedness system in various developing countries to develop a set of comprehensive indices through local application and validation. The results will be compiled in Manual form. The developed set of indices as well as Manual will be presented to international disaster-related communities.
- Regarding ADB-funded Regional Technical Assistance to extend advisory services on water-related flood risk reduction to Indonesia, Bangladesh, Lower Mekong Countries, etc., to support responsible
members in ICHARM in order to coordinate various services/actions with recipient countries and ADB for the smooth implementation of the said project.

Qualifications
- The applicant must have a Ph.D. or M.S. in hydrology, water resources or water-related disaster management.
- The applicant must have the adequate ability and experience to publish refereed papers (in English or other languages) in hydrology, water resources or water-related disaster management.
- The applicant must have adequate expertise and has published academic papers in hydrology, water resources or water-related disaster management.
- The applicant must have good English and Japanese skills to write research papers and communicate in various situations.

Selection
One applicant will be selected through the application review (stage I) and interviews (stage II), based on multiple factors including expertise, work experience, previous research achievement, motivation, English and Japanese proficiency and others.
