The National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET), a non-government/non-profit organization working towards earthquake risk management, has been implementing Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines under a Cooperative Agreement with Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (OFDA/USAID).
NSET is looking for potential candidates to fill out the position of Program Officer for PEER Stage III program activities. Interested Candidates (local or foreigners residing in Nepal) with strong English speaking and writing capability (preferably a native English speaker) must be physically and mentally fit and ready to work in multi-culture and multi-language environment.
The Program Officer will be responsible for the stated duties and responsibilities in connection with the implementation of the Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) Stage III activities.
Main Task:
He/She shall contribute in the development of program reports and other informational materials as per the requirements and standards of NSET and the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (OFDA/USAID).
Specific Activities:
The Program Officer shall be based at Kathmandu, Nepal, for the duration of the work assignment, and shall perform the duties as warranted for by NSET and OFDA/USAID for PEER requirements. PEER scope and activities, including, but not limited to the following:
- Contribute to the development of program reports (quarterly, post-meeting reports [e.g. from country and regional planning meetings], other program reports and information products as required by NSET and OFDA/USAID.
- Contribute in the design and development of informational materials and other related medium of information dissemination, e.g. newsletter, brochures, website, database, etc.
- Review and provide inputs, as necessary, on the English language content of all course materials and documents developed under PEER by NSET.
- Contribute or assist in local staff’s capacity-building through sharing of knowledge and expertise on his/her scope of work.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Deputy Chief of Party/PEER and shall report to him/her.
Qualifications:
NSET seeks interested Candidates (local or foreigners residing in Nepal) with strong English speaking and writing capability (preferably a native English speaker)The following qualifications and experiences are required for the completion of the assignment:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to disaster management/ emergency response or Project Management and have at least 5 years of experience in Project Management with responsibilities in documentation and report preparations.
- A University degree (Master or Ph.D.) in relevant discipline will be preferable.
- Possess high level of proficiency in the English language with professional ability to convey ideas in writing and orally.
- Preference will be given to a native English speaker.
- US or British nationality will be considered an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with multi-cultural environment, and ability to work independently towards delivering the tasks.
- Currently residing in Nepal is preferable.
