Web-messaging-based dissemination of urban rainfall and flood information: a Telegram bot framework
This study presents a Telegram bot framework for disseminating urban rainfall and flood information in near real time. It describes an R-based automated system that brings together rainfall data acquisition, flood risk mapping and web-messaging tools. The framework is designed to support user-friendly access to decision-support information, particularly in cities with limited resources.
The key takeaway is that accessible digital communication tools can strengthen the delivery of flood information for urban risk management. By combining automated data processing with probabilistic hazard and vulnerability mapping, the framework offers a scalable approach for sharing timely and location-specific information. The article highlights the potential of familiar messaging platforms to support preparedness, early action and decision-making in flood-prone urban areas.
