According to The Express Tribune, a new 10-year strategy called the National Disaster Management Plan 2012-22 will be prepared in Pakistan with the Japanese government. The aim is to work on a disaster management policy to reduce the losses caused by natural calamities.

Early warning, flash floods guidance systems, and new building codes are intended to be developed in the 10-year plan. "We cannot stop natural disasters, but can reduce their risks by adopting proactive approaches and pre-emptive measures", said NDMA Member Planning Ahmed Kamal.
