During a symposium held at Tohoku University on the sidelines of the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon gave an account of his encounter with high school students in Fukushima Prefecture following the terrible tragedy, four years ago.

While he expected the students to request material help, they asked instead, "How could we work with the United Nations to help other people in other parts of the world just to avoid this kind of tragic disaster?” “That really struck me and inspired me. I was truly moved,” Ban said, according to the Japan News.
