"It is critical to engage local communities, especially children and young people for raising, awareness about disasters and improving safety and security of people during emergencies. We encourage parents, teachers and guardians to help their children learn more about the causes and impact of disasters and how children around the world are facing up to these challenges. Empowering communities brings greater responsibility and global awareness, which can be a great advantage in disaster reduction," declared a spokesperson for Muslim Aid on the International Day for Disaster Reduction according to the Charity's website.
