The Times of India points at excessive construction activity as the major causes of landslides in Uttarakhand, although a comprehensive study on landslides has not been undertaken. "To check cases of landslides, it is necessary to decrease construction activities in these areas," says Environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt.
