Haiti and Mozambique most vulnerable to economic losses from 'natural disasters'

Mapelcroft's Natural Disasters Economic Loss Index evaluation places Haiti and Mozambique as the world's most exposed countries for economic losses due to natural hazards from 1980-2010. The Index measures the global economic impact in terms of risk to property and infrastructure of disasters such as earthquakes, floods, droughts, landslides, epidemics, tsunamis and extreme heat and cold. It also warns that some industrialised nations, such as Italy and the US, are also among those facing high risk.
