Source(s): Nigerian Tribune

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Nigeria is urging the local government of Oyo state to clear the flood planes of the region. NEMA Director-General Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Sidi is asking for the demolition of 26,000 structures to avoid flooding the capital. He stated: "Though the state government is taking steps to reconstruct and rehabilitate canals, extend drains and bridges, building people’s resilience against identifiable disaster risks is the best legacy that a leader can bequeath to his people."
