In his article for the Fiji time, Pardeep Lal says that "so far Fiji has been lucky to escape devastation. The best thing is to be prepared and not wait for one to hit Fiji." He calls for municipalities, coastal areas, resorts and outer islands to have tsunami evacuation plans and drills so that in the likely event of one, people are able to move to safety within the limited timeframe, for towns and cities to work out plans for traffic movement and manage its thousands of people including children and for for tsunami warning devices in coastal areas.
