Bangladesh: Cross regional learning on indigenous knowledge for DRR

A workshop organized by the IFRC and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and supported by DIPECHO and the Swedish Red Cross, to be held next week, aims to share, exchange and identify gaps on indigenous knowledge for disaster risk reduction (DRR) across South Asia, South East Asia, South Africa and the Pacific regions.

The local community and DRR practitioners will participate in the workshop to discuss and potentially identify linkages between modern technologies and the use of indigenous knowledge.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have been promoting the ‘Building Safer Communities’ approach in South Asia since 2007 aiming to develop communities resilience to natural disasters, strengthen national societies, work towards community preparedness and establish networks to promote regional and cross regional learning.
