The Beijing Declaration is the outcome of the Belt and Road Ministerial Forum for International Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management. 

Since 2012 ONEMI has coordinated the Risk Management and Gender Working Group, with the aim of promoting a space for reflection and inter-institutional coordination for the incorporation of the gender approach in Disaster Risk Reduction in Chile.

This plan was developed with information and actions that help address this phenomenon and thereby reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality associated with high temperatures and the occurrence of heat waves.

This National Policy for Risk Reduction obeys the international commitments the State of Chile acquired and the need to establish guidelines that strengthen Disaster Risk Management in the country by 2030.

This plan aims to become a guiding instrument whose objective is to promote disaster risk management in the country in a transversal and priority manner, to establish a baseline of concrete actions already in development.

The National Climate Change Adaptation Plan aims to strengthen Chilean capacity to adapt to climate change by deepening the knowledge of its impacts and the vulnerability of the country.

In October 2010, a United Nations mission evaluated the progress made in Chile regarding disaster management and proposed formulating a National Policy for Disaster Risk Management.
