Groundwater is a major source of water across much of the world including the Asia-Pacific region and acts as an important component of the global water cycle on the earth. Groundwater has the capacity to balance large swings in precipitation and increased demands during drought as well as surface-water resources close to the limits of sustainability. However, groundwater resources may be threatened by increased human activities and the uncertain consequences of climate change.

This international symposium is focused on three major objectives; to learn about groundwater resources and management under changing climate and society, to evaluate the methods and techniques regarding groundwater and soil water in hydrological systems, and to discuss strategies of groundwater management as adaptation, alternative, and resilience in a changing environments.
