The second Asia-Pacific Forestry Week will be held 7-11 November 2011 in Beijing China, with the theme "New challenges - new opportunities".

It will be the largest and the most important forestry-related event in the region in 2011, bringing together more than 1500 participants from governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutions, regional and international networks, UN agencies and the private sector.

The week will be structured around 5 days of interactive plenary sessions and partner events that will address the topics and issues targeted by participating organizations: from forest governance to poverty alleviation, from forest invasive species to community forestry.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with key forestry stakeholders and together will chart new pathways, forge new partnerships and discuss the new challenges and opportunities shaping forestry in the Asia-Pacific region.

Topics include:

• Sustainable forest management in the context of China forest land tenure right reform
• REDD-plus enabling policies and governance"
• Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA) methodologies in China
• From Bali to Beijing: Lessons Learned and Remaining Challenges from a Decade of Work on Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in East Asia and the Pacific
• Climate change adaptation and ecosystem resilience
• Responding to increased demands in fire management
• Community based sustainable forest management - experience sharing
• Forestry and climate change: Strengthening regional platforms and learning networks
