Provide leadership in the development and mainstreaming of community resiliency and disaster risk reduction (CR/DRR) related strategies, frameworks, mechanisms, systems and tools to provide the necessary capacity and competency for ensuring the integration of risk reduction along with emergency ECHO food security and nutrition work in World Vision programming in Warrab and Unity states.
Strategy planning and leadership
-Provide leadership on CR/DRR, including participation in the CR/DRR community of practice/working group, work team and CR/DRR staffs;
-Promote coherence between WVs CR/DRR policy and practice;
-Discuss and respond to food security and nutrition vulnerability issues on a regular basis.
Program management and development
-Monitor and report on the use, application and impact (where possible) of internal and external programming models in regards to CR/DRR;
-Pay specific attention on early warning information and the impacts of climate change on the poor;
-Collaborate closely with local Government and NGOs work in this area.
-Support the integration of monitoring and evaluation information into accessible formats to support understanding of vulnerable groups and vulnerable places.
-Support Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping activities at WV Southern Sudan.
Liaison and networking
-Ensure that WV works collaboratively with academia and other sectors for leading edge research and programming.
-Represent World Vision to local and regional government officials and partner representatives on CR/DRR and vulnerability/food security related issues.
-Ensure documentation and publications for both internal and external audiences are developed and disseminated; Budget preparation and staffing plans.
Capacity building
-Build capacity of WV Southern Sudan programs and projects to understand and apply CR/DRR tools and techniques;
-Teach the use of GIS and early warning tools including access to document archive and use of summary tools and mapping;
-Engage in special capacity building activities or initiatives assigned by Humanitarian and Emergencies Affairs (HEA) (e.g. CDPP, Track I and II training).
Requirement
-University degree in social science such as geography, sociology, development studies or related field;
-Some formal technical training in information management, library science or computer science.
-3 or more years experience working in information management or computer-oriented technical position.
-Direct experience with and thorough working knowledge of the collection, organization and presentation of pertinent information for decision-making.
-Must have the ability to prioritize situations of responsibility, which must be dealt with.
-Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
-Must have excellent employee relations, managerial ability and leadership capacity.
-Ability to work without supervision, and demonstrate initiative and innovation.
-Ability to write well and express technical and humanitarian ideas in an informed manner.
-Familiarity with World Vision’s HEA policies and procedures preferred.
-Excellent computer skills, familiarity with windows and microsoft word
-Agreement with World Vision’s Core Values and Mission Statement.
Preference
-Master's degree is preferred.
