In the context of Economics of Climate Adaptation (see www.swissre.com/climatechange), a cutting-edge project to develop
climate adaptation strategies, Swiss Re is seeking a skilled natural scientist, eager to apply and further develop Swiss Re#s catastrophe models and to work with a leading consulting firm.
Are you a natural scientist or engineer with a flair for bridging cutting edge science and business application? Do you like to put your highly developed analytical and conceptual skills into practice - supported by state of the art software tools? At the same time you like to produce results and are not afraid of pragmatic approaches? As a natural perils specialist with an emphasis predominately for wind and flood but also other natural perils, you will be working in Swiss Re's Catastrophe Perils unit. You will help to develop wind and flood risk assessment methods - embedded in a team of some 20 natural perils experts in Zurich and New York.
Requirements
An (advanced) natural science or engineering degree
Good to excellent programming skills in MATLAB
A strong team player attitude
Well developed oral and written English
Experience in risk assessment techniques and/or stochastic models and a broad interest in science, finance, and business topics
