Policies, projects and people: Exploring the adaptation-development spectrum in India
This paper charts the institutions and actors in the climate change adaptation (CCA) space in rural and urban semi-arid India and finds that development and adaptation span a continuum in policy and practice. The publication interrogates policies, programmes and projects in India.
The authors recommend the following:
- The adaptation community could do well to integrate the learning from engagements of development practitioners with vulnerable populations for building adaptive capacity, in the context of a changing climate.
- The development community must learn about the unique ability of climate change to achieve effective sustainable development.
