Ghana: Call for responsibility towards disaster prevention and management
At the Regional Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation meeting, Ghanaian officials made a call for disaster prevention to be the concern of all through practical actions such as landowners ceasing to sell lands located on water ways in order to help avoid floods and related disasters, communities ceasing the practice of dumping garbage in drains, people preventing the perennial bush fires, and not politicizing the demolition of structures on water ways in addition to increasing community awareness and education programmes, reports the Ghana News Agency.
