China-Japan-Republic of Korea cooperation in the field of disaster management as well

Source(s): China Daily

China Daily has published the paper titled 'China-Japan-ROK Cooperation (1999-2012)' issued by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among other issues, the document gives a summary of the cooperation between the three countries in the disaster risk management (DRM) field, and it also outlines a disaster management exercise that will aim to build capacities for joint disaster responses. The three countries have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in four major areas: establishment of regular DRM meetings and visits to disaster-affected areas; information sharing concerning mega-disaster risks, and building a common disaster risk prevention system; strengthening disaster reduction, relief capacity, satellite-based disaster surveillance and sharing geo-spatial data for disaster reduction.
