Governments may have to extract huge amounts of greenhouse gases from the air by 2100 to achieve a target for limiting global warming, backed by trillion-dollar shifts towards clean energy, according to a draft UN report obtained by Reuters. The report warns that the world is not doing enough to achieve the goal agreed in 2010 of limiting warming to below 2 degrees above pre-industrial times, which is considered as a threshold for dangerous floods, heat waves, droughts and rising sea levels.
