Index-based livestock insurance: the case of Mongolia

This document examines the usage of index-based insurance among Mongolian farmers who insure their livestock against extreme weather and other climate-related risks. The document explains the Mongolian Government’s Index-Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI) Project, how the project calculates pay-outs, and how it encourages Mongolian farmers to participate directly in creating resilient livelihoods.
