Seventh African Development Forum (ADF), acting on climate change for sustainable development in Africa, issue paper #11:

This paper presents the main ethos of the UNFCCC Private Sector Initiative, which calls for effective engagement in the wider adaptation community, as a means to support mitigation and adaptation to climate change in a coherent and integrated manner. It highlights: (i) the areas for private sector engagement to respond to climate change risks in Africa through mitigation and adaptation, including disaster risk reduction, risk management, risk awareness, identification and decision-making analysis; (ii) the options for scaling up private sector engagement; (iii) the enhancement of the role of public finance mechanisms to scale up private investment in climate solutions; and (iv) some conclusions and recommendations.
