UNCSD synthesis report on best practices and lessons learned on the objective and themes of the conference

This advance unedited copy reports on experiences including success factors, challenges and risks with respect to the objectives and themes of the Conference the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD). It includes consensus around the need for catastrophe planning, disaster risk reduction and adaptation/mitigation strategies, including measures related specifically to disaster preparedness and early warning systems and climate change adaptation, within the renewed political commitment for sustainable development experiences. It also calls for more effort on early warning, disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction enhancement.
The overall report seeks to synthesize the main messages of the the member States, the UN system, international financial institutions (IFIs), Major Groups and other stakeholders in an objective, balanced and coherent manner based on replies to the questionnaire and other statements, as appropriate.
