National adaptation plan for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
The National Adaptation Plan (2019) for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines sets out a long-term framework (2018–2030) to reduce climate vulnerability and embed climate change adaptation into national development planning. Recognising the country’s exposure to hazards such as hurricanes, flooding, drought, and sea-level rise, the plan prioritises strengthening institutional coordination, improving climate data and knowledge systems, and expanding access to financing and technology for adaptation. It focuses on integrating adaptation across key sectors—including agriculture, water, health, tourism, and infrastructure—by aligning policies, planning processes, and budgets with climate risks. Rather than centring on recovery or emergency response, the plan emphasizes forward-looking, preventive action: building resilience, enhancing adaptive capacity, and ensuring that climate considerations are systematically incorporated into decision-making. Through this approach, the NAP positions adaptation as a core component of sustainable development and aims to support a more resilient and climate-informed national trajectory.
