Morocco: Programme d’action national de lutte contre la désertification 2013
In the context of implementing its commitments within the framework of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Morocco has adopted a National Action Program to Combat Desertification (PANLCD). This sectoral program of national scope aims to favour measures that are likely to complement existing sectoral programs, catalyze their implementation, and promote a fundamental development dynamic based on integration, territorialization, partnership, and adoption of the participatory approach.
The adaptation of the PANLCD, to respond to the new perspectives of the national and international context has set itself a set of strategic objectives, which are, in particular:
- evaluating the state of play with a critical analysis of the existing situation in the fight against desertification;
- defining quantified strategic and operational objectives to reverse the process, seeking a differentiated approach for intervention (ecosystem zoning), and
- establishing links between climate change and desertification, with a view to a prospective strategy adaptation.
