Eastern Caribbean regional climate change implementation plan
This document outlines a project led by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to support the OECS to develop, prepare to implement, and finance an Eastern Caribbean Climate Change Implementation Plan. The project considers both mitigation and adaptation measures to support large scale emission reductions and improved climate resilience across OECS Member States.
At this preliminary stage, the project has assessed how a regionally collaborative plan could work in practice. By conducting deep dives into two priority sectors (transport and water), the project has highlighted areas for common action requirements, and provided guidance towards the implementation of future regional initiatives that will achieve the objectives.
This document outlines the preliminary scoping work conducted, describes the structure and planned implementation of the regional plan, provides implementation and funding options, and points to potential next steps in the development of the full regional plan.
When complete, the Eastern Caribbean Climate Change Implementation Plan aims to assist OECS Member States to:
- Deliver large scale emission reductions;
- Accelerate green growth in the region;
- Deliver development co-benefits; and
- Improve resilience to climate change impacts.
