Flash flood risk analysis for sustainable heritage: vulnerability configurations and disaster resilience strategies of Huizhou covered bridges
This study examines how flash floods threaten the heritage of Huizhou’s traditional covered bridges by analysing their vulnerability and identifying strategies to enhance their resilience. Using a risk analysis framework that considers structural characteristics, environmental conditions, and management practices, the authors explore how these factors interact to influence disaster outcomes. The results show that resilience emerges from the combined effects of bridge design, maintenance conditions, and contextual risk factors, and suggest targeted resilience strategies to protect these historic structures against future flash flood events.
