Fiji Country Climate and Development Report
The Country Climate and Development Report: Fiji summary examines how climate change could affect Fiji's ambition to achieve high-income status by 2050 while identifying opportunities to strengthen resilience and support sustainable economic development. The report analyses the impacts of more frequent and intense climate hazards, including tropical cyclones, floods, droughts and sea level rise, and assesses the economic consequences of inaction.
Drawing on the findings of the report, the following measures aim to accelerate Fiji’s progress towards its climate and development goals:
- Strengthen infrastructure resilience & lifecycle planning
- Invest in human capital for long-term growth and climate resilienc
- Strengthen land-use planning to reduce disaster risks and to protect natural capital
- Diversify and green tourism to boost growth and resilience
- Accelerate clean energy investment to reduce fuel costs and lower costs
