Disaster risk profile: Timor-Leste
This report looks at the disaster risks facing Timor-Leste, particularly those linked to earthquakes and hydrometeorological hazards such as floods and cyclones. It estimates how these hazards could affect buildings, economic assets, and communities, while also drawing attention to the role of housing quality and social protection in shaping vulnerability. The analysis shows that although earthquake-related losses are relatively small on average, flooding and cyclone-driven events may pose comparable risks, especially for poorer households living in structurally fragile dwellings and with limited support mechanisms.
