This News Letter issued by DDMA-Gorakhpur is in the context of its effort executed in a quarter of 2019-for enhancing the Disaster Resiliency & Climate Change Adaptation within the district.
As per the NDMA scheme of Aapda Mitra for training community volunteers in disaster response in the selected most floodprone districts of India, a total of 200 volunteers under the aegis of DDMAGorakhpur got trained by 11 Battalion of NDRF at Varanasi in 8 different batches. Aim of the scheme: Training & certification of community volunteers in the selected most flood-prone districts of India for carrying out flood relief & flood rescue operation during the phase of occurrence of a disaster. Objectives of the scheme: Develop an effective training module at the tehsil level under the Aapda Mitra scheme of NDMA, covering the training of all the processes and gadgets to rescue the stakeholders during coordination & assistance in flood response. Development of knowledge management system through trickle-down concept leading to the deployment of trained Aapda Mitra & local community during the phase of flood preparedness & flood response. Creation of emergency stockpile (First aid kit, searchlight, life jacket, search & rescue equipment) at taluka/block level for carrying out an effective flood response situation by Aapda Mitra.
