Community-based afforestation program (Pakistan)
This document reports the outcomes of a community-based afforestation program implemented by the Holistic Understanding for Justified Research and Action (HUJRA) with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in Pakistan. The planting techniques used are contributing to reducing flood, drought erosion and landslide risk.
The recommendations for carrying out afforestation projects are the following:
- provide fruit plants on time. according to the consulted request;
- the load of plants per participant should be 70/participant;
- standards and specification of plants should be strictly monitored during procurement;
- dead, dying and moribund plants should be avoided during procurement.
