Australian climate change science: a national framework
The National Framework for Climate Change Science (the Framework) identifies national climate change science priorities for the coming decade and sets out ways to harness the full science capacity to address them. The focus of the Framework is fundamental climate system science, which provides essential system knowledge to understand climate change impacts, develop adaptation strategies, and manage carbon emissions. The scientific research proposed under the auspices of the Framework is designed to interact closely with the adaptation response agenda, with mitigation science and technology, and with efforts to develop more effective policy to deal with the climate change challenge.
The Framework comprises four main elements: challenges, capabilities, people and infrastructure, and implementation.
