Workshop: How to make Lisbon a more resilient city

This story was translated by the city council of Lisbon.

In the scope of the H2020 European Project RESILENS - Realising European Resilience for Critical Infrastructure, the Lisbon City Council (CML) organized on December 12 a Workshop about "How to make Lisbon a more resilient city - an opportunity to strengthen communities".

This meeting was attended by 63 experts from different activity sectors representing 21 organizations that discussed, shared and addressed issues as good practices in the context of the interdependencies between critical infrastructures and other sectors including the strategies to strengthen the relationship between the city of Lisbon as a resilient city and the stakeholders during a disruption event. Along the day were presented 2 case study analyzed by 6 mixed groups, involving other 10 stakeholders from different activities sectors.

It was also showed in this workshop 2 presentations, one from the National Authority for Civil Protection (ANPC) to present the manual “Good Practices for Resilience of Critical Infrastructures - Private and Public Business Sectors", recently published and other from National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) to present the scope of H2020 European Project RESCCUE - RESILIENCE to cope with Climate Change in Urban Areas, of which CML is also a partner, and also an opportunity to strength synergies between European Projects focused on resilience.

This Lisbon’s event was aligned with the targets and priorities for action to prevent new and reduce existing disaster risks proposed by Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, special focus on Strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk and  Investing in disaster reduction for resilience.
