Vietnam: 48 scientific projects on climate change adaptation deployed

Implementing "Scientific and technology program for the National Target Programme to Respond to Climate Change in the period 2011 - 2015"; over the past 5 years, the country has deployed 48 scientific projects at national level to serve the objective of climate change adaptation.

These deployed projects have been contributing to evaluation and forecast of the impacts of climate change, sea level rise. Meanwhile, these are also the basis for proposing measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change in Vietnam.

In the upcoming period, Vietnam will continue to encourage scientists to do research, develop scientific theses with an aim to establish a scientific basis for planning, designing monitoring and early warning system of climate and climate change as well as the vulnerable subjects to improve science, technology and management capability in coping with climate change.

It also help determine the scientific basis for integrating climate change issues into the process of developing and implementing the development strategies, plans, programs.... It is important to focus on analyzing and evaluating cost/performance (economy - society - environment) as a tool for state management on climate change.
